Create and Print Labels and Other Projects in Design & Print Online

 This article is a guide to help you get started with creating and printing your Avery labels in Design and Print Online. 

Step 1: Finding your Avery Template

  • Go to avery.com/templates
  • Type in the product number (4 or 5 digit code) in the search box in the center of the page and click on the small magnifying glass or press Enter on your keyboard (the Avery product number is located on the front of the package)

Step 2: Choose your Design

  • On Step #2 Choose Design there are pre-designed and blank templates. Click on the design you want to start with, and in the Choose Design - Preview window click Customize Design. 

  • Note: If you cannot see the Customize Design button, your browser screen may be too zoomed in. Use Ctrl - on Windrows or Cmnd - on Apple to zoom out.

Step 3: Customize your Design

You will now be in the Customize screen. Here you will see one label on your screen, and to the right, you will see a small preview of the entire label sheet called the Navigator.

On the left side of the screen, you will see options to add different design elements, such as text, images, shapes, QR and barcodes, and more.

How to Add Text

To add text to your design, click on the T for text then click on Add Text Box


  • To format text, such as font size, font color, and centering options click in the text box and click-drag to highlight the placeholder Type your Text in blue
  • Make formatting changes to the left of the screen while your text is highlighted
  • To create project with the same information on each label, make sure Edit All is selected on the right side

How to Add Images

  • To add images to your design, click on Image and Add Image on the left hand side
  • You can then select to upload images from your computer, avery account, avery gallery, stock images, or google photos

Step 4: Print your Project in Design and Print Online

  • After you create your design, click on Step #4 Preview & Print (top of the screen)
  • This will give you a full page view of the project 
  • On the right, click on the blue button Get PDF To Print or the green Let Us Print For You to order for our custom printing services
  • Save your project to your online Avery account or your Computer
  • Select the option to either download or open your PDF (this depends on the browser you are using)
  • Once you have the PDF opened, make sure the Scale is set to 100% or that Actual Size is selected
  • We also suggest selecting a Best Quality print setting and selecting a thicker paper type such as Labels or Heavyweight

Note: printers can have different available settings depending on the make and model. If you are unsure about what settings to select, we would suggest contacting the printer manufacturer for detailed recommendations.
