(Note: If you’re using Design & Print Online in Google Chrome (the preferred browser to use with Design & Print Online)… then feel free to disregard this article—these steps should not be necessary if you are printing directly from Google Chrome.)
If you are using a Windows PC and you are NOT printing from Google Chrome, then you will need to ensure that your PDF files are opening in Adobe Reader in order for your labels to print correctly.
Please follow these steps to ensure that your computer is using Adobe Reader to open your .PDF files.
- Find a .PDF file that is saved onto your computer and then right-click on it.
This should open a small menu.
- Click on Properties at the bottom.
You should see the following window:
In your window, if it says Opens with: Adobe Reader… then this setting is correct—your computer is already set to open your PDF files in Adobe Reader. Double-clicking on the file should open it in Adobe Reader.
(Note: Adobe Reader, Adobe Reader DC, and Adobe Acrobat Reader are all basically the same thing—any of these programs should work.)
If does NOT say Opens with: Adobe Reader, then you have to change that setting before you’re able to print.
- Click on Change.
This will open a window that will show you a list of programs that you can use to open PDF files with. Click on the arrow to view more programs/apps:
If you do have Adobe Reader in this list, then click it once and then click on OK.
Then, in the previous window, click on Apply, and then OK.
This will correctly set your program to open PDF files in Adobe Reader.
If you do not have Adobe Reader in this list, then you will have to download it and install it to your computer.
Once you have it installed onto your computer, you should then be able to set your PDF files to Open with: Adobe Reader.
