Here are our recommendations to prevent paper jams:
After you click Print, click on Properties or Preferences, or look for the Print using system dialog option where you’ll find Paper options.
- For laser printer labels - change the Paper Type to Label
- For cards - choose Heavyweight or Cardstock.
If the printer doesn't have a Labels setting under Paper Type, choose Heavyweight or Cardstock instead.
Choose the best quality setting if your printer has that option.
Use your printer’s manual feed tray and feed one sheet at a time. If you are using a regular paper tray, try putting a small stack of paper (about 20 sheets) underneath the labels to help lift them up for easier pulling.
Be sure the plastic paper guides are snugly holding your labels or cards in place.
Don’t try to print sheets of labels that have some of the labels removed – only print full sheets.
Be sure you are using a genuine Avery product – non-Avery products are not optimized for our templates, and are not manufactured to our specifications. Be sure the sheets are not bent or curled.
If the printer’s rollers are old or broken, they may not be able to effectively grab the paper. You can see tips for your specific printer model at your printer manufacturer’s website.
