If an adhesive product is not adhering correctly that could be for a number of reasons:
- The adhesive is removable and so has less adhesive hold than needed for your application (such as bending around a tube)
- The surface the product is being applied to is not compatible
- The surface that it's being applied to could have oils, dust or dirt or another material that is causing issues
- Labels that are old may lose their ability to stick
- Labels that have been exposed to severe weather conditions can be less sticky
- Avoid touching the back of the label, oils from your fingertips can dull the adhesive
- If applying the label to a tube (cylinder shaped product) please view the information below
If the label is lifting off your cylinder / tube products this is called "Flagging." We recommend the following:
- The label should overlap onto itself for a better adhesion
- When measuring for the label size, include the overlapping area
- Avoid touching the back of the label, oils from your fingertips can dull out the adhesive
- Smooth and apply pressure to the overlapping area firmly for 5-10 seconds
Note: When designing for the label and using the overlapping method, the side that will be applied first on the label should have a blank area of the design.
