When you upload a low quality image into Design & Print Online, you may get this message: Your Image has a smaller file size than we recommend. Use a higher quality image for better print results.
If you do not have a photo editing software such as Photoshop on your computer, you can try using Microsoft Paint or Preview on Mac to increase image resolution and file size.
Here's how to do this in Microsoft Paint:
- Open Microsoft Paint and select File in the upper left and Open to select the image on your computer
- When the image loads, select Resize on the toolbar at the top
- A window will pop up. Make sure you select Pixels
- You can now adjust the pixels for the height and width of the image and select OK. Increasing the pixels will increase the image file size
- After you adjust the image, select File and Save As and save the image as either a PNG, BMP or JPEG file type to upload into our free design tool
Here's how to do this in Preview on Mac:
- Open the image file in Preview
- Select Tools at the top and select Adjust Size
- Select Custom from the Fit into drop-down
- You can now adjust the height, width, and resolution of your image. You can adjust it by inches or pixels with the drop down on the right side
- Select OK once you are done adjusting the image
- After you adjust the image, select File at the top and Export to save the image as either a JPEG, PNG, PDF, or TIFF file type to upload into our free design tool
