Our customer spotlight, Sweet Arlene’s Candle Co. , was founded in 2020 with the goal to bring happiness into your home. All of Sweet Arlene’s candles are individually hand-poured, crafted and artistically designed from small batches making each blessed candle truly one of a kind – no candle will look exactly alike. Every candle is slightly unique in terms of color, design, placement, crystals, etc.
When the time came to add a label to her designs she choose Avery WePrint Removable White Vinyl film labels for both the eco-friendly ability to repurpose the container and the durability in any environment in the home.
We had the opportunity to find out more about Sweet Arlene’s Candle Co. from owner Drew Arlene and how she is making her small candle company a sweet success.
Q: How did you get started?
A: Candle-making started as a passion project and quickly turned into something I needed to do to calm my nerves. I have anxiety and learned working with my hands to make something myself really helped. I decided to bring my love for crystals & candles together to create Sweet Arlene’s.
Q: What has been your biggest success?
A: I think my biggest success for Sweet Arlene’s is stepping out of my comfort zone and getting my product in two storefronts. The lovely team in charge of Haus of Trade & Open Market OC trusted me enough to put my candles in their stores. I couldn’t be more grateful for them!
Q: What have been your biggest challenges?
A: My biggest challenge so far has to be marketing. I am awful at photography, so I struggle with what to post on my own social media. I get it out, but it’s definitely something I know I need to work on.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: My plans for the future are to continue branching out to more stores. Get my name out there more. My big goal is to eventually have my own store with tons of other small business friends.
Q: Why did you choose Avery for your label needs?
A: I chose Avery because I love the quality of the labels. Plus, the system to print yourself or just order straight from Avery is super easy to follow.
Q: Any special labeling tips and tricks you’d like to share?
A: ALWAYS measure your products. Self-explanatory, but I thought my eyes were too good for that. Learned the hard way.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: TEST TEST TEST. Don’t be afraid to reach out to these big companies for help. You never know until you try. Don’t give up. We all know you are tired. It is SO worth it to see your progress!
