See how caring for cancer patients led to a new line of skin care

How did your company get started?

natural ASH started in 2020. I am a Registered Nurse, working in Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. The patients were going through intense chemotherapy and radiation which often left their skin compromised. Dryness was one of the many changes. I noticed that the skin care products in the supply room were full of toxins, some of the ingredients even linked to cancer. They were not moisturizing and barely caused any relief for patients. I knew at this moment I wanted to make a change and offer natural and effective skin care body butters for patients.

During this time, I launched natural ASH and saw success with e-commerce and reaching people that wanted safe skin care products. During my own personal journey within nursing and onto motherhood, I began to become inspired to also focus on women’s and maternal health. Giving women a healthy choice for skincare wellness during the different phases of their reproductive health.

What has been your biggest success so far?

My biggest success for natural ASH happened in 2024. I was a recipient of the Northeastern Women Who Empower Award, in particular Powering Diverse and Inclusive Communities of Belonging. I was also the recipient of the Creators’ Momentum Business Accelerator. I have been featured in the New York Post and very grateful for the exposure that natural ASH has received.

What have been your biggest challenges?

My biggest challenge has been scaling and acquiring the necessary funding. Many small businesses face this challenge. My recent grant funding will help natural ASH scale and go in that direction. However, there is still a need for more resources to fund marketing initiatives and strategies for sales growth.

What are your plans for the future?

My plans for the future include growing the target customer for natural ASH. I want to be able to retain current loyal customers, as well as reach new customers. There are many out there who can benefit from using natural ASH and a product created by a nurse with clinical experience and wellness in mind.

Any special labeling tips and tricks you’d like to share?

If I change a design, but want the same sizing – I can easily swap out the image and ‘copy’ the last 

Anything else you’d like to add ?

I have been able to pivot and change labels so easily with Avery. As my company grows, I am trying new labels and it’s so easy with Avery. If I am not sure about a design, I am not required to order a large amount to make a minimum, I have the flexibility of ordering a small amount. Avery has been with natural ASH since I officially launched and started using labels. I love to continue to see natural ASH grow with Avery.
